I Like My Hats Lightly Toasted

If you haven't read the post about the fire on the shuttle boat, please do. You may have to scroll to the bottom of this page and click on "Older Posts". Well, Marc's favorite hat survived the fire......kind of. What was left ended up being quite the conversation piece at restaurants and bars. The hat got a little toasted around the back edge, and a piece of Marc's red luggage melted on the brim. It ain't pretty, but it tells a pretty damn good story. Thank God the sharks didn't get a hold of it that night (OK, kidding again).

Saturday - the Return to White Bay

Saturday morning we needed to drop Phil off in Sopers Hole, since he was headed home a day earlier than the rest of us. We were up early, went through a little rain, and saw a rainbow while underway.

After we dumped Phil, I mean....dropped Phil off, we made the executive decision to head back to White Bay. It had been a whole week since we had been there! We got a great mooring ball and relaxed for awhile (translation - drank a few beers).

After all of the relaxation we could handle, we decided to head to the Soggy Dollar for a few painkillers. Captain Ken decided to stay behind and nap. A short dinghy ride later, we were sitting with toes in the sand, and sipping a painkiller - the perfect way to spend a Saturday.......actually two Saturdays in a row. Life was good. We then walked down to One Love again to have a drink next to their severely underwatered Christmas tree.

Back onboard, it was almost time for sunset photos, so we adjourned to the top deck with a jug of Ken's excellent painkillers. The final sunset was a good one as you can see below......

A Busy, but Fun Friday Afternoon

When we left Monkey Point, we put together a pretty aggressive plan - 1.) hit Sandy Spit, 2.) head to the Bubbly Pool, 3.) check out Sandy Cay, 4.) head on the Harris' Place to see Cynthia.

Solving all of the world's problems on a mooring ball in front of Sandy Cay. Pretty relaxing.

Harris' Place

We met up with Terry and his crew for drinks and dinner. It is always fun the see Cynthia, and last night was no exception. Her restaurant had a great crowd and she was a lot of fun.

Snorkeling at Monkey Point

After they ran us off, er.... umm, I mean we left Scrub Island Friday morning, we motored to Monkey Point for some snorkeling and relaxation. Ken's new camera is awesome, as you can see below.

A Friday Morning Swim......in Style

Flat Seas on Thursday

Thursday was a relaxing day, and there wasn't enough wind to get back from Anegada, so we motored the last quarter of the way. Everyone voted to go to the Fat Virgin Cafe' for a cheeseburger, so we were on a mission. It was good!

After snorkeling a little at The Dogs, we radioed the Scrub Island Resort and reserved a slip at their dock. This place is amazing, and everyone enjoyed being able to take a shower on solid ground. I would love to bring Melissa, Ryan and Lauren to this resort. It is very kid friendly, considering how nice it is.

Rough Seas on Wednesday

Wednesday morning, we woke up and the wind was still howling. To sail the 14 or so miles to Anegada in the big seas, or be a bunch of wimpy, whiny sailors? It was unanimous - we were headed to Anegada. After pulling the dinghy onto it's cradle to protect it while underway, off we went. Sails up! We passed the first boat - I couldn't tell if it was a cat or a mono-hull, because we were going so fast. Wind speeds of up to 28 mph, with swells at about 8 to 10 feet.....the photos below don't do it justice.

Once on Anegada, we rented a 1994 Jeep and headed to Cow Wreck Beach for a few beers (Belle said to tell everyone hello), then to Loblolly for a painkiller. Great day.

For dinner, we ate lobsters at Potters by the Sea and had the place to ourselves. There was a Clemson flag on the ceiling that was just begging for "modification." With the owners approval, we just had to do it.
